High-quality cork with elastic rubber is one thing above all else: cushioning. This is why we equip most of our footbeds with a flexible cork core. It has a simple but noticeable effect: every step you take is gently cushioned and optimally supported.
Birko-Flor is light and soft. Our models with colourful Birki’s designs are manufactured from this tear-resistant and low-maintenance felt. With a flat coated surface, the Birko-Flor provides the basis for most of the typical Birki-style patterns.
Leather simply feels good – it is flexible, versatile and exceptionally breathable. We use soft, supple suede as a cover sole for our footbeds and as an outer material for some clogs. It guarantees optimal air circulation and ensures a pleasant environment for the foot.
There are only a few Birki’s models which do not have buckles. Buckles help with individual fit to ensure the foot is held securely in the shoe. Each buckle receives the best finish currently available: a powder coating that protects effectively against damp and corrosion.
ALPRO®-foam (PU) is robust, dirt-proof and waterproof. It is best suited for all garden, casual and swimming shoes. The foam mixture can be washed and disinfected at 60°C . This is why these shoes are also popular in the foodstuffs industry and in hospitals.
Whoever chooses sandals and clogs made from ALPRO®-cell (EVA) likes it light! Despite the fact that it’s light, the natural motion of the foot is still supported in the best way possible. Shoes made from ALPRO®-cell also have an anatomically designed footbed. This tough material is washable at 30°C.
